Grains Restaurant - a healthy alternative

Was at Central @ clarke quay and pondering what to have for dinner...there're so many restaurants there that it's difficult to make a choice...

Eventually, we settled for one where we did not have to queue for a table. But it doesn't mean they are doing poorly. In fact most of the tables were occupied.
Well, it turned out to be quite a decent restaurant...and healthy too.
On the menu, it is indicated which dishes should be eaten in moderation (mostly the deep-fried items). They also indicate that they do not use MSG in their cooking.

    We ordered 4 items.
The signature Grains fried rice uses white rice mixed with brown rice, and the dish is topped generously with wolfberries. The chef did not stinge on the chinese herbs in its double-boiled chicken and ginseng soup, which has a very strong (but not over-powering) ginseng taste for that extra oomph.

The chinese spinach in superior stock also has wolfberries added for a hint of sweetness. The fried spinach tofu topped with crispy dried scallop & mushrooms is nice too, but it's a dish which you should eat in moderation.

The good thing is, there's change for $20 per pax!

Other items on the menu include dim sum, sharks fin soup, double-boiled soups & traditional desserts.

CJ Palace Restaurant (Ngee Ann City)

Morning Yum Chas are always so popular with families, just look at the queue number when I just reached, couldn't believe they were already assigning numbers of 80+...luckily I only needed a table for 2 and had made reservations well in advance.

By CJ's standards, I just knew nothing would go wrong with my order of Har Gow, pork wih century egg porridge, fried carrot cake, egg tarts and fried beancurd roll - all done to perfection!

In addition, the steamed beef ball is very soft but "Q" (probably finely-chopped by hand & not a machine) and you can taste the beef in it, unlike the frozen kind you get at supermarkets. The rice flour roll is of course a staple dim sum item too, except that they offer one with fresh scallop fillings too - FRESH!
We added a sharks fin dumpling soup at the last minute (as you can see, it's not in my order) and didnt regret it! The dumpling was suspended in a tasty superior chicken broth and had quite generous fillings of sharks fin, diced mushrooms and fish maw.

$30 per pax is all it takes!
