March 29 Madam Kwan Nasi LemakThough I've not tried the Grandma's at Orchard Parade Hotel (helmed by an ex-Madam Kwan chef) that is reminiscent of Madam Kwan's signature dishes, having tasted the real thing, I am sure that nothing comes close to this truly Malaysian cuisine! Like the fact that the curry chicken and beef rendang are not too spicy-hot so that you can still taste the meat and spices.
They have outlets at KLCC, Pavilion and Mid Valley, you can't miss them :)
KL - Angus House @ PavilionDecided to splurge a bit to boost the economy =D Nice setting... especially because there is no one else in the restaurant except us! So private... Look at the freshly whipped butter... ...and what a crisp loaf of bread Soup of the day is Carrot Soup, a tad salty (as usual with all the cream base soups) Salad with Japanses soy sauce dressing... Pan-seared Foie Gras with mushroom in red wine sauce *Bon appetit* Close-up on the Foie Gras... what a unique taste. Angus Rib-eye Steak... look at the grill marks! Makes me hungry all over again! Steaming up my camera lens... Topped with herb butter and a slice of green lime. Cross-section of meat - medium rare Can't really remember what the waiter said this dessert is...but it's balanced taste is not bad. Fruits are sweet and sourish, mango cream is not too overpowering and the cake has nuts to give good texture. Cheap & good! Rib-eye set lunch is RM99 while the promotional gourmet Foie Fras set lunch is RM59.
Cititel Mid Valley HotelIf I'm not wrong, this is just a 3-star hotel though didn't really bothered to explore its facilities. The superior (read standard) rooms are rather small but are comfortable and clean enough for your nights' rest. Also equipped with basic toiletries (soap, shampoo, sanitary bags, toothbrush & shower cap) and hairdryer. Overall, would say that it's value-for-money (abt S$160 for 2N w/o b'fast) considering the good location at Mid Valley, where you practically can get everything. No fuss about the check-in & check-out too...

In the room Seah Imm Food Centre Part 2Why part 2? If you didn't know, I have posted one previously on beef noodles and hokkien mee.
But there is so much good food in Singapore that there can't just be 2 nice stalls at a hawker centre right? Here's TIAN JI Yong Tau Foo - a stall that caught my taste buds as well. It's much like the Koo Kee type where you cannot choose the items. For the standard $3 bowl, you can get 2 big fishballs, 1 tau kee, 1 small fish cake and ngoh hiang. What I like most is the mee kia tossed in their chilli...BEST. :)
March 04 Cui Lu Char Kway Teow @ Beach Rd Food CentreStrictly no extra chopsticks or plate provided. For additional cockles, vegetables, silver fish, top up 50 cents respectively. No additional egg. Closed on Mondays. What to do...truth is you can afford to be that arrogant if the food's good.
This stall swear by no pork no lard (though i don't think it's halal)...& plays video clips of its stall being feature on Channel 8's programmes. (with 3 LCD monitors!!!)
![]() March 01 Pondok Jawa Timur - The Atrium @ Orchard - Never going back!Haven't had anything bad to say about a restaurant for a long long while... well, this is it.
If you look at the following pics, you may not find anything to complain about. You are half-right, the food is ok, but the service sucks!
We found some pieces of plastic (gross!) in the Nasi Campur and feedback our displeasure to the staff immediately. The apology came late. They even tried to explain it off and I find that rather redundant. She offered to change the whole plate of food but we were almost done with our dinner so we cannot finish the food even if she had replaced it. We waited for her counter-offer which never came. We paid the bills with full service charge included and zero discount given. Period.
