    Yusaishoku Japanese Family Restaurant

Aside from the free kimchi appetizer that it provides, there is nothing worthy of any particular mention. The milky stock of the Tonkotsu Ramen looks promising when it arrived at my table but the taste is not even half as impressive, which makes me wonder if they had added in any carnation milk (like some fish soup hawker stalls) to achieve the colour.

    Sin Swee Kee Chicken Rice

On normal days, with restaurants like Mint Cafe (Toy Museum), Casa Bom Vento (Peranakan), Mushroom Park Steamboat, Va Va Voom (Vietnamese), Soup Restaurant etc all lined up, it would be difficult to decide where to settle for your grub at Seah Street. But with the recession looming, the choice is clear...

Sin Swee Kee's one-person set meal is only $5.90 and it comes with their signature chicken rice, seasonal vegetables and a cold drink (choice of homemade barley/longan/wintermelon). Hainanese pork chop is only $5.50 and soup of the day (not sure what soup it is but it's quite nice) is $3.00.

Wonder if it's related to the Old Swee Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant at the end of Seah Street...Hmm...another family feud?
