    Miharu Sapporo Ramen

Long wanted to try this accidental find, a Japanese Ramen restaurant, at Gallery Hotel when I first visited the Ayuthaya Spa about a year ago…

It boasts to serve authentic Sapporo Ramen and is very popular amongst Japanese living in Singapore. Perhaps this is one reason why the restaurant does not accept reservations in advance.

Like most Japanese restaurants featured on TV, the furnishing is very simple. Indoors, there are only about 5 four-seater tables, including 2 of which are Tatami-style. As for the outdoors, there is a long counter with seats facing the restaurant and about 3 tables. However, there was not much difficulty finding a table when I went for weekend dinner.

As I finished reading the menu at one glance, the waitress served ice water and was ready to take orders. We settled for the Ton Shio Ramen and Special-of-the-month Thick Tonkotsu Ramen with Garlic & Sesame sauce – with special instructions for less oil and less salty, which I saw the waitress put down in note.

The food came within 10 mins. Both bowls looks just as yummy, but we could still find a considerable layer of oil floating on the savoury soup and QQ noodles. Well, maybe Ramen has to be oily??? The boiled egg was a bit disappointing though, could have been a bit softer…and the chef could be more generous with the Char Siew serving. Nonetheless, we left with the bowls empty…

Then I saw that there was this weird Japanese guy beside me who brought his own little bottles and sprinkled them over his noodles…hmmm wonder what that is…so secretive…

Bill was $28.30…quite worth it, and will consider coming back again ;)

Oh ya, they are closed every Wednesday.

    Courtyard@Rendezvous BBQ Buffet

These 2 pics shows all you could expect at the dinner buffet...some food were so badly burnt that one wonders if they really specialise in BBQ.

There were salad and dessert counters too, but they were not what I went for...

Thank god it's 1-for-1 under OCBC credit card! Costs SGD32+++/adult.

    Noodle Place Restaurant

Sigh, wanted to try the japanese teriyaki restaurant at Cuppage Plaza level one, but always full house...

So settled for dinner nearby...at Centrepoint...

We ordered Mixed BBQ Combo, WanTon Mee and Claypot Broccoli with Asparagus. Comes with free double-boiled soup.

Nothing special, but nothing bad about it either (except maybe they can spare the gravy on the BBQ combo next time)...

Prices are affordable to most. Citibank credit cards have privileges.

    Jacks Place Steakhouse

Had a craving for beef yet again...

3cheers for the islandwide-renovations, but restaurant still lacks punch in terms of food quality and service.

Wanted to order some special steaks on their dinner menu, but was told they weren't available. ("What's it called again???")

We settled for Lamb Chops and Ribeye steak instead, upgrading to set meal with Lobster Bisque.

The Lamb Chops hardly have any meat and the steak was more of medum-well than medium (which is what I ordered). We were done within about 20 mins and they cleared our table real fast...only to be reminded 2 times to serve our dessert and drinks, which eventually came 30 mins after we've finished our Main Course.

The Ah Pek beside our table was funny though...kept telling his wife not to follow what he ordered and ended up ordering a Seafood platter FOR her...hahaha...& the funniest thing is, the seafood Hor Fun which he ordered was served only after his wife had finished her plate! Woo Hoo, how about that for a service!...

Verdict: Go only when nowhere else serves beef ;)

Oh yah, took this pic of a group of Ang Mohs jogging around with a bra worn outside...all for the good cause of breast cancer. All the way man!
