January 11 Kuriya Japanese Dining (Shaw Towers)January 01 Kushigin Japanese Charcoal GrillJust to share the pics of my New Years' Eve dinner first...i'll blog later =p
**update**
Did not make any reservations for my New Year's eve dinner and decided to try my luck at Ken's Ramen...but it was closed! Damn! No choice but to walk over to S11 foodcourt beside Centrepoint.
Hah! To my surprise, Kushigin, tucked away in Cuppage Shopping Centre, was rather empty. This tiny Jap restaurant is usually filled with many Japanese sipping their sake/beer, accompanied by assorted kushiyaki (grilled meat/veg on skewers). I've had wanted to try this on numerous occasions, only to be turned away because it's been fully booked (yes, everytime!).
Maybe everyone went for their dinner at those hotel buffets instead...we hesitated a bit (because of price maybe...haha), but decided to grab this chance since they have an available table...
We ordered a set dinner Course C ($40), a Saba shioyaki($8) and a garlic rice($6). The set dinner is enough for 2 persons, but a pity you cannot choose the 5 kinds of kushiyaki, it depends on the chef...The grilled Saba is over-grilled and we had to remove the charred skin before devouring it, such a pity...The garlic rice was very nice! No wonder almost every table ordered at least one. I noticed that there is no egg in the fried rice and the fried garlic topping is simply irresistable!
What an end to 2007!
